stablished by Kenyan-born Tony Church, and now owned and managed by his son Gordon, Safaris Unlimited takes you to the heart of Africa - a land both men call home. Passionate about their work, continually scouting uncharted country, one of our professional guides will lead your safari and share with you their love for the wilderness and their profound knowledge of its people, terrain and game.
TONY
Tony has spent almost his entire life in Kenya. Born in 1938 to parents
who were missionaries, he was educated in Nairobi and then joined the Southern
Rhodesian Police Force in 1961. He returned to Kenya in 1964 managing
a tea estate in Nandi Hills before going into tourism in 1969. He incorporated
Safaris Unlimited (Africa) Ltd in 1971 and is currently the Chairman of
the family business. He is an avid conservationist.
GORDON
Gordon was born and raised in Kenya. Working for the family business since
a child, he was initially a camp-hand, then driver and finally guided his first
safari at the age of 18. After attending boarding school in Kenya he continued
his education in England obtaining a degree in Wildlife Management from
the Royal Agricultural College. He is a naturalist and a keen explorer,
spending most of the year out in the ‘bundu’ guiding safaris.
PIERRE
Pierre is a third generation Kenyan, who grew up living under canvas in the bush - the place he feels most at home. He finished his education in Switzerland with a diploma in Tourism Management. Since his return, he has been actively involved in East African tourism and conservation. Pierre spends all of his time on safari, whether with guests or friends. His love of the bush is contagious and his knowledge superb.
JAMES
James grew up on his family farm near Machakos. He spent his early years looking after cattle across the tribal Wakamba countryside. Without formal education these experiences formed the base of his love and knowledge of Kenya's flora and fauna. James has been guiding safaris for almost twenty years and is one of a very few silver badge professional guides. He is a brilliant ornithologist.
All Safaris Unlimited guides are qualified members of the Kenya Professional Safari Guides Association.
THE CREW
Integral to our expeditions is our dedicated and highly-skilled camp crew.
Many have been with us for over a decade; others are second generation,
while a few ‘elders’ have formed part of our team since the
company’s foundation. Professional guides, chefs, waiters, porters,
mechanics, grooms, tent attendants and trackers make up our highly valued
team.
Our experience of East Africa is unlimited and we promise to make your experience of East Africa unforgettable.
What makes Safaris Unlimited unequalled?
Each safari has a personalised itinerary, planned by Gordon, Tony or Pierre.
Our safaris are unlimited – horseback, wildlife-photographic, bird shooting, walking, fishing, flying, tracking the great apes and more.
Almost 40 years experience.
Using our own mobile tented-camps and hand-picked boutique lodges, we have access to private wildlife areas and exclusive campsites.
We have developed long-standing relationships with local chiefs and ‘elders’ in the areas we visit.
Gordon, Tony and Pierre travel annually to Europe and the Americas to meet potential guests to discuss their holiday options.
We actively support several conservation and educational programmes.
